Royal Air Force v's Royal Navy - Greenhous Meadow

13 March 2013

The RAF men's football team opened their defence of the Inter Services Football Championships by playing the Royal Navy at Shrewsbury Town's Greenhous Stadium. Over a thousand supporters watched as the match ball was delivered by a Griffin helicopter of 60 (R) Squadron of the Defence Helicopter Flying School at RAF Shawbury.

The game was a full of attacking from both sides. The RAF proved too strong winning 3 goals to 1, giving the Airmen the Cassar Trophy for the game against the RN once more.

The fixture followed the equivalent Ladies game, played at the RAF Cosford Stadium in the afternoon, which was won by the RAF by 4 goals to 2.
