Shrewsbury pilot Squadron Leader (Ret’d) Shawn Marston has retained the title of National Standard Bearer at this weekend’s RAF Association annual conference in Birmingham. Beating competition from across the UK, and overseas, Shawn will now have the auspicious honour of representing the entire RAF Association’s 74,000 members at numerous events, including National Armed Forces Day in Salisbury next month, for the next 3 years.
After nearly 20 years of RAF Service as a Captain of the mighty C-130 Hercules, the RAF’s Tactical Transport workhorse, including operational missions in Former Yugoslavia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan, Shawn now flies the Global 6000 long-range business jet all over the world in addition to Young Air Cadet Experience Flights at RAF Cosford.
Shawn is a member of the Shrewsbury and District RAFA branch, who meet at Harlescott Social Club at 12:30 on the first Monday of each month. RAF Association membership is open not only to RAF Veterans and those currently servicing, but also the general public, as Associates, with an interest in supporting the RAF Family.
